Best Resorts in Bohol: Which Area to Choose

Before we cover my favorite resorts in Bohol, I’ll explain the distinct areas in the province where tourists usually stay. Most travelers base in Panglao, where you’ll find the greatest variety of accommodations. If you want to learn more, try my Where to Stay in Bohol guide!

  • Panglao: This island is the most popular tourist destination in Bohol. It’s known for its beautiful white sand beaches, clear waters, and vibrant dive sites. It’s the best option for beach lovers and luxury travelers. Bohol Beach Club is my favorite beach resort in Bohol’s most well-loved island.
  • Tagbilaran City: This is the capital of Bohol, located on the main island. It’s convenient for those who want easy access to transportation (ferries, buses, etc.) and shopping malls, restaurants, and local markets. I recommend Sweet Home Boutique Hotel as the best Bohol accommodation in the city.
  • Anda: If you’re looking for a more secluded and tranquil getaway, Anda is the place. It’s known for its pristine beaches, clear waters, and laid-back vibe, perfect for those who want to avoid crowds. I love Casa Amihan in Anda for its gorgeous private beach!
  • Loboc: This region is known for its beautiful river cruises and lush natural surroundings. While it’s not as busy as Panglao, it offers a quieter and more rural experience, with charming eco-friendly resorts and guesthouses. I visited Fox & The Firefly Cottages in Loboc and found it to be incredibly relaxing and natural.
  • Carmen: This area is famous for the Chocolate Hills and has a handful of accommodations catering to those who want to explore Bohol’s natural wonders. Most of the accommodations here are smaller hotels, eco-resorts, and homestays. I recommend CASA AGUELO as a low-key Bohol resort within walking distance of the main sights.

Best Resorts in Bohol: On the Main Island

Bohol is both a province of the Philippines and the name of the largest island in said province. The most popular place for tourists to stay in Bohol is actually on one of its smaller islands, Panglao. However, if you’re searching for resorts on Bohol Island itself, the resorts below are the best options.

Anda White Beach Resort

Anda White Beach Resort is a relaxing seaside retreat nestled along the shores of Anda. At 2 and a half hour’s drive from Panglao International Airport, it feels worlds away from the crowds of Alona. The resort offers standard rooms with sea views, family rooms, and beachfront suites, and bungalows. I recommend the beachfront bungalow for its private terrace overlooking the water.

Amenities at Anda White Beach resort include a beautiful private beach with great snorkeling, a resort pool, and a bar and restaurant. The hotel serves a great buffet breakfast, with room service available upon request. Guests love the sublime sunrise and sunset views, particularly in the beachfront rooms. If you want a peaceful getaway right on the water, Anda White Beach is one of the best beach resorts in Bohol.

The resort offers a variety of cottages, villas, and bungalows ranging from one-bedroom to three-bedroom accommodations. Personally, I recommend the deluxe villa for its outdoor spa bath with ocean views. It’s a great getaway only a half-hour drive from Panglao International Airport.

Guests at Marqis can expect exceptional service and thoughtful amenities. The resort infinity pool is one of the best on the island, making the most of its incredible hilltop vantage point. Guests can also indulge in spa treatments, hire a private driver, dine at a great restaurant, or enjoy sunset cocktails at the bar. With its well-rounded offerings and sensational views, Marqis is one of the best resorts in Bohol.

Island View provides amenities including a resort pool, a large beach area, tropical gardens, and a great restaurant. Guests can rent kayaks to explore the shallow waters near the resort, request transfers, or receive recommendations on dive shops and restaurants nearby. Above all else, guests love the personalized service and warm hospitality, making Island View one of the best boutique beach resorts in Bohol.

The property offers standard rooms, suites, and cottages, with my favorite being the Family Suite Cottages with a view. These cottages feature two large double beds, bamboo furnishings, a private patio with rice terrace views, and an outdoor shower.

In addition to its well-designed suites, the Fox & Firefly provides a wealth of amenities. Guests can delight in delicious, healthy meals at the restaurant, great coffee, yoga classes, and paddleboarding and biking tours. I had the chance to paddle the Lomboc river, and cycle through the hills with their guides and had a great time. Casa Amihan is one of the top-reviwed resorts in Bohol. Located on a quiet beachfront in Anda, Casa Amihan is a bit over 2 hours from Tagbilaran City. Guests can enjoy a relaxing stay in family suites, or enjoy a sea view room. I recommend the family room with a sea view for its spacious seafront terrace.

Amenities at Casa Amihan include private access to a pristine beach, incredible snorkeling right from shore, and a large outdoor pool. A restaurant and bar offer delicious eats and a great breakfast, with a tea & coffee maker in each room. The island itself is a small slice of paradise. Guests can book double rooms, family rooms, or bungalows with garden views. I recommend the double room with pool view for its spacious layout and ideal location.

Polaris provides a handful of amenities, including a brilliant dive center with highly quaified dive masters, an outdoor pool, a bar and restaurant, spa services, and a private beach area. Best Resorts in Bohol: on the Island of Panglao

If you’re looking for a resort in Bohol, specifically on the small island of Panglao, these are the best options. From peaceful retreats nestled on the north shore, to sprawling resorts along Alona Beach, these are the best resorts in Bohol’s island of Panglao.

Eskaya Beach Resort & Spa

Eskaya Beach Resort & Spa is the most exclusive luxury resort in Bohol. This boutique resort features just 24 private villas, each boasting a private pool and contemporary Filipino design. My favorites are the Grand Infinity Seaview Villa and the Presidential Infinity Villa for their panoramic ocean views. Each suite offers bespoke bamboo and wood furnishings, a daily breakfast, and complimentary use of a golf cart, mountain bike, and board games.

Beyond exquisite suites, Eskaya provides premium amenities, including a fitness center, a spa, and a tennis and basketball court. Additionally, the resort encompasses a pristine private beach, as well as an infinity pool deck with sweeping sea views. Guests can also enjoy activities like kayaking, horseback riding, scuba diving, and water sports. With exceptional amenities and indulgent villas, Eskaya is the premier luxury resort in Bohol.

Modala Beach Resort

Modala Beach Resort is one of the newer luxury resorts in Bohol. Located on Doljo Beach, it’s a 15-minute drive from Alona Beach. Many travelers prefer the clean and modern layout of Doljo Beach’s shops and restaurants, connected to Modala. While staying near Doljo Beach, I’d often visit Modala for its more upscale dining (and beach exercises).

Guests at Modala can choose from a variety of rooms. I prefer the high-floor deluxe doubles with sea views! Each room offers comfortable bedding, well-appointed living spaces, and a private balcony with sea or city views. As for amenities, there’s a fitness center, outdoor pool, many bars and restaurants attached, and a private beach area. If you’re searching for a luxury resort in Bohol that’s far from the crowds of Alona, but still close enough to visit, Modala is the perfect choice.

Donatela Resort & Sanctuary is a 5-star property perfect for families, friends, and honeymooners. Nestled between lush tropical gardens, this serene property is only a 10-minute drive from Alona Beach. Comprised of eight standalone villas, guests can be assured of a peaceful holiday. I recommend the Honeymoon Villa or the Pool Villa for those seeking private pools. It’s one of the most peaceful resorts in Bohol.

The property offers amenities including two restaurants, a spa, and a free shuttle into the Alona Beach area. Guests also love the horses roaming the property, and the private cliffside overlooking the water. For a serene stay just outside Alona, Donatela is among the best luxury resorts in Bohol.

Amorita Resort

For many, Amorita Resort is the most iconic luxury resort in Bohol. Perched at the end of Alona Beach, enjoys an impressive vantage point of Panglao’s most popular beach. This expansive property features 98 rooms, suites, and villas, with my favorite being the seaview pool villa. The resort also offers two-bedroom suites and villas with views of the Bohol Sea.

Amenities at Amorita include two infinity pools, a PADI dive center, and a wellness center and spa. Guests can explore the lush gardens, stroll along a secret cove, or try archery lessons and water sports. The resort offers 4 dining venues, a bar, room service, and private dining experience, bookable for memorable occasions. Considering it’s luxe suites and ideal location, Amorita tops many a list as the best luxury resort in Bohol.

Mithi Resort & Spa

Mithi Resort & Spa is a secluded, beachfront resort in Panglao’s northern coast. It’s known as one of the top luxury resorts in Bohol. It’s relatively close to Alona Beach, at only a 20-minute drive. Mithi offers standard and superior rooms, although I recommend upgrading to a deluxe or seaview villa. The seaview villa in particular is a treat for the senses, featuring a private pool and sweeping ocean views.

In addition to its well-appointed rooms, the property offers a wealth of amenities. Guests can enjoy exclusive access to a private beachfront, the Dream Islet, perfect for romantic dinners, or explore Cambagat cave, on the property. There’s also the Mithi Spa, tennis courts, and a bar and restaurant. With its idyllic setting and expansive grounds, it’s one of the top luxury resorts in Bohol.

Bohol Beach Club

Bohol Beach Club is my favorite luxury beach resort in Bohol! The property was Bohol’s original beach resort, founded by the father of Bohol Tourism, Anos Fonacier. The property stretches across the finest white sand beach in Panglao, offering a variety of rooms with garden and sea views. The resort grounds are immaculate, with gorgeous green lawns and swaying palms.

Amenities at BBC include two resort pools, an expansive private beach area, a bar and restaurant, and an air-conditioned fitness center. The AquaSports Center is another highlight, offering scuba diving, snorkeling, and underwater photoshoots to locations like Pamilacan, Balicasag, and the nearby underwater airplane. All this paired with exceptional service makes BBC the best beach resort in Bohol.

Oceania Resort Panglao (Formerly South Palms Resort)

Oceania Resort Panglao is the neighboring property to Bohol Beach Club. This refreshed property enjoys the same powdery white sand beach, with tall coconut trees framing the horizon. Guests can choose from a variety of standard and deluxe rooms, with my favorite being the Beach and Panglao Villas. It’s one of the top choices for luxury resorts in Bohol.

Amenities at Oceanania include an expansive beach area with a pool, a restaurant, and a bar. Guests love lounging at the private beach, although it can get crowded with day visitors. Regardless of the visitors, I found Oceanania and Bohol Beach Club to be far less crowded than Alona, and loved staying at both. For a peaceful beach getaway, Oceania is one of the best beach resorts in Bohol.

This property is a 15-minute drive north of Alona Beach, but only a 2-minute drive from the popular Doljo Beach. Guests can choose from a variety of rooms, including a deluxe twin, a standard double, a suite, or a two-bedroom villa. While the two-bedroom villa features a private pool, even the standard double room is an incredible option. With floor-to-ceiling windows and a free-standing tub, it’s one of the most luxurious “standard” rooms in Panglao.

Amenities at North Zen Villas include a resort pool, an overwater spa, a bar and restaurant, and a beautiful boardwalk through the mangrove forest. The resort features deluxe rooms and suites, with many offering sea views.

Being located on the north coast, a 15-minute drive from Alona, the Bellevue offers extensive facilities. The Filipino province of Palawan is blessed with two of the most beautiful island destinations in the world, Coron and El Nido. Known as the last frontier of the Philippines, this region is one of the most biologically diverse in Southeast Asia. And with its soaring limestone cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and brilliant white sandy beaches, it’s a dream come true for most travelers. Both destinations provide their own unique experiences though, and deciding which one to visit can be difficult. Having lived in the Philippines and visited both areas multiple times, I’ve created this guide to help you decide whether Coron or El Nido is a better choice for your travels.

I recommend booking an El Nido to Coron Expedition with Big Dream Boatman to experience the best of both locations in a relaxed and authentic way.

Coron VS El Nido: Which is Better?

If you don’t have time to read the entire guide, here are the key differences between El Nido and Coron. Coron is generally better for ocean lovers and those looking for a relaxing trip, whereas El Nido is better for those seeking a lively tropical atmosphere.

El Nido is a more developed tourist destination with several distinct areas to stay in, each having its own vibe. I’d never recommend visiting either Coron or El Nido and not going island hopping, but in El Nido, you’d still get to enjoy beach days and a vacation atmosphere without going on island hopping tours such as Tour A.

Coron on the other hand, has a much less appealing town center to stay in, and no nice beach in town. That said, it’s known for its world-class snorkeling and diving. There are gorgeous beaches on islands you’ll visit on island hopping tours. The hotels and resorts just outside of town can also feel much more peaceful than staying in the bustling beaches of El Nido.

Honestly, both are wonderful and in my opinion, the best way to experience them both is through Big Dream Boatmans El Nido to Coron crossing!

Where to Visit: Coron vs El Nido

In an ideal world, you wouldn’t have to choose between visiting Coron or El Nido, but for many travelers, this question is a thorn in their holiday planning. Although it largely depends on personal preferences, I’ve included a few sections below to help you choose which island destination is best for your travels. I’ve started with a brief comparison of Coron vs El Nido, followed by how to travel to either location. I then compare things to do and accommodation in both places.

Personally, I love Coron for its historic shipwrecks and incredible snorkeling. If you like being underwater, Coron is easily the better choice. That said, I’m getting married in El Nido because I love the vibe of this beach town, and knew my friends and family would too. If you want a fun time outside of tours, El Nido is the better option.

It’s important to note, however, that both Coron and El Nido offer both luxury private island resorts and party hostels. You can definitely experience both at either location!

Before going further with details comparing Coron vs El Nido, I want to repeat that my favorite way to see both destinations is by doing an El Nido to Coron crossing. Over 4 days and 3 nights, you’ll explore the most beautiful (and remote) islands, reefs, and sandbars between El Nido and Coron.

I sailed with Big Dream Boatman and it was the best way to experience Palawan. I’ve written a full review of my Coron island hopping with them if you want to read more.

Coron Compared to El Nido

Coron is the best choice if you’re passionate about diving and don’t need an amazing vibe outside of island hopping tours and dive trips. Several cheap hotels just outside of town also offer a peaceful environment perfect for a romantic getaway or a memorable family vacation.

For discerning travelers, Coron also has the newest and most opulent overwater bungalows in the Philippines, at SETIR. The private island resorts in Coron are highly coveted vacation spots for Manila’s jetset.

where to stay in Coron Best Resorts Sunlight
Luxury private island resorts in Coron

If you’re staying in Coron and expecting a beach holiday though, you might be disappointed. There’s no beach in town, and you’ll need to book island-hopping excursions to enjoy a beach day. Unfortunately, visiting Coron’s most famous sites on public tours means you may be sharing the beach with quite a lot of people.

If you’re set on diving but want to avoid the crowds, I recommend Sangat Island Dive Resort, located on a private island just a short boat ride from some of the region’s historic wreck dives.

Other fun things to do in Coron include hiking Mt Tapyas, visiting Maquinit Hot Springs, water sports, and of course, island hopping and diving!

El Nido Compared to Coron

El Nido is the best option if you’re a backpacker, solo traveler, or want beach time outside of tours. For luxury travelers, the region is also home to some of the most exclusive hotels in the Philippines, with romantic beachfront hotels dotting the gorgeous Bacuit Bay.

El Nido Town has beautiful limestone cliffs you can admire right from your hotel room. There are also several beaches near and far where you can find solitude in an otherwise popular tourist destination. Although I’ve noted Coron’s incredible diving, El Nido is also a world-class island-hopping destination. Its famous lagoons and idyllic islands are popular for a reason!

El Nido

And if you’re a bit adventurous, you can kayak to a few of them yourself from the mainland. I was even invited by Redbull for their cliff diving competition in El Nido!

Cliff diving in El Nido

Another favorite memory of mine in El Nido is watching beautiful sunsets from Las Cabañas Beach, or seeing the sunrise from Taraw Cliffs. There’s a string of great beachfront bars and restaurants on El Nido’s most popular beaches that also make for incredible sunset locations.

How to Travel to Coron vs El Nido

Most visitors travel to Coron & El Nido by plane. Both destinations have a nearby airport offering daily domestic flights from Manila, Cebu, and Clark International airports. Travelers flying into Coron arrive at Francisco B. Reyes Airport (Busuanga), a 30 – 45 minute drive north of Coron Town. Travelers flying into El Nido arrive at either Lio Airport (El Nido), a 15-minute drive north of El Nido, or Puerto Princesa International Airport, a 5-hour drive south of El Nido.

It’s not uncommon for travelers to visit both Coron & El Nido, by taking a local ferry rather than the more expensive direct flight with AirSwift. I’ve written a complete guide on how to get from El Nido to Coron, but again, my favorite way to complete this transit is through an El Nido to Coron Crossing with Big Dream Boatman.

Just to note, traveling to El Nido is cheaper than Coron if you’re willing to fly to Puerto Princesa and then take a 5-hour shared transfer. I always regret this choice, but it’s a great way to get a bargain on flights!

Using Big Dream Boatman to visit El Nido & Coron

If you’re traveling in Palawan and want to experience the best of both El Nido and Coron’s island-hopping, I highly recommend booking an expedition with Big Dream Boatman. They’re a locally operated, bespoke tour company that specializes in off-the-beaten-path destinations and showcasing Palawan’s iconic sites – as privately as possible.

By visiting incredible (but popular) places like Kayangan Lake, Paradise Beach, and Twin Lagoons outside of day trip tour times, they avoid the crowds and create a more magical, private atmosphere. If you want to see the beauty of Palawan without the sea of life jackets – and double your tour time as a transit, this is the best choice.

One of the islands I visited with BDBM

It’s a locally run company. I’ve met all the staff and their families, and we’ve even done cleanups together in Coron. They’re good, genuine people who care about their community and want to make a positive impact. It’s an awesome way to travel sustainably, make some great friends, and experience beautiful, remote islands.

Enjoying meals with our guide

The tour also takes you to the classic spots in both El Nido & Coron, either before or after the rush of public tours, ensuring a private and relaxed getaway. I got to visit secluded beaches, swim with stingrays, dine under the stars, and freedive at incredible sites without the crowds that often accompany Palawan’s most famous sites.

Things to do in Coron vs El Nido

If you’re wondering what to do in Coron vs El Nido, the following are my favorite recommendations. Both destinations offer beautiful island-hopping tours that visit blue lagoons and breathtaking beaches. They both even have an infamous hike that starts in town.

a man sitting on the back of a boat in the water.
Island hopping in Coron with Big Dream Boatman

Things to do in Coron

As I’ve mentioned earlier, Coron should be your choice if you’re a diver, freediver, or love being in the water. While El Nido also has gorgeous island hopping, Coron’s wealth of dive sites, shipwrecks, lagoons, and lakes make it one of the world’s premiere diving locations. The following are the best things to do in Coron in addition to island hopping!

Coron island hopping

Hike Mount Tapyas

Mt Tapyas is the most popular viewpoint in Coron Town, with sweeping views over the rolling hills and islands of Coron Bay. The view doesn’t come easy though, with 721 steps between you and the summit!

Go Wreck Diving

If you’re a passionate diver, this has to be at the top of your Coron bucket list. Coron is home to several Japanese WWII shipwrecks, some possible for new scuba divers on “discovery dives”. Even snorkelers can enjoy swimming above these historic wrecks.

Visit Maquinit Hot Springs

Maquinit Hot Springs is one of the few saltwater hot springs in the world. With temperatures around 38 – 41 °C (100 – 106 °F), it’s best visited in the late afternoon due to Coron’s already warm climate. At only a 30-minute tricycle ride from town, it’s a must-do for most Coron visitors.

Snorkel at Coral Garden

Coral Garden is one of the best snorkeling sites in Coron. With a vibrant reef, clear waters, and accessible depth, it’s one of the best places to visit outside of Coron Island’s iconic sites.

Things to do in El Nido

El Nido is the perfect place to visit if you want plenty of options to stay active while also being able to just lounge on the beach. Unlike Coron Town, El Nido has several beaches. There’s also bustling nightlife and plenty to do around the area. It’s my recommendation if you want a trip with a fun vibe.

an aerial view of a lagoon with boats in the water.
El Nido’s Lagoons

Try the Zipline

The El Nido Zipline takes you for a thrilling ride over Las Cabañas Beach to Depeldet Island. It’s a fun way to see the views of Bacuit Bay and makes for a solid hike in the midday sun if you make the same mistake as I did.

Hike Taraw Peak

Taraw Peak is one of my favorite short hikes in Southeast Asia. It’s a great way to start your day in El Nido with an adrenaline rush. Unlike Mount Tapyas in Coron, there aren’t any stairs, but rather, scrambling. I recommend going with a local guide!

Sunrise at Taraw Cliff

Go Chasing Waterfalls

El Nido has several hidden waterfalls, including Bulalacao Falls, Nacpan Falls, and Nagkalit-Kalit Waterfalls. These make for a great way to cool off during the summer and are a fun way to see the region outside of island hopping.

Lounge at the Beach

El Nido is blessed with many beaches. From the basic beach in El Nido Town proper to Corong Corong’s epic sunsets just south of town, Lio Beach’s chill vibes 10 minutes north, and Nacpan Beach’s fine white sands a half-hour away, there’s a beach for any vibe in El Nido.

Nacpan Beach

The Best Time to Visit Coron vs El Nido

To experience the breathtaking islands of Coron and El Nido at their finest, you’ll want to visit during the dry season, from November to May. This period sees the most stable weather, with conditions that are ideal for sightseeing and island hopping. Visiting in the shoulder seasons of November and May can provide a decent trade off between discounted travel and ideal weather.

If you plan on visiting El Nido, April will be your best bet, as the Amihan monsoon can cause adverse wind conditions earlier in the year. It’s worth noting that April and May are very warm though! Additionally, it’s wise to avoid traveling in the week leading up to Easter Sunday. This is Holy Week in the Philippines, and often sees a surge in domestic travel (and prices).

If you’re looking to attend some events on your trip, Coron hosts the Festival of Islands in December which is a celebration of the Calamian Islands which includes traditional music, dance and games, as well as an array of local food.

How Long to Spend in Coron vs El Nido

I recommend a full 4 days in El Nido and 3 days in Coron. This allows you to do multiple island hopping tours, and also have a rest day between sightseeing. Both Coron and El Nido offer 4 standard tours, A, B, C, D. My recommendation is to do at least two!

Because El Nido also has Nacpan Beach (a 45-minute drive away), I recommend adding the extra day in El Nido to take a day trip to Nacpan. In addition to island hopping, El Nido also has great beach clubs and restaurants to spend extra days and nights in the area. Unless you’re a diver, or prefer slow travel, 3-4 days in Coron is fine for most visitors.

Where to Stay in Coron vs El Nido (The Complete Guide)

For travelers wondering which location is better to stay in, Coron or El Nido, the following is a summary of accommodations you can expect at either location. Both islands have a variety of mid-range, luxury, and budget accommodation options that cater to all tastes.

Where to Stay in Coron vs El Nido (Coron Accommodations)

Coron is a sleepier town than the more developed tourist hub of El Nido. However, it still offers accommodations to suit all budgets and styles of travel. Those considering Coron also benefit from lower costs in Coron compared to El Nido. Here are my top recommendations for luxury, mid-range, and budget accommodations in Coron.

Two Seasons Coron Island Resort

Two Seasons Coron Island Resort is my pick for the best luxury resort in Coron. Located on a peninsula on Bulalacao Island, guests arrive via a complimentary 45-minute boat ride from Coron Town. Its idyllic setting in the Bay affords sweeping views of turquoise waters, emerald islands, and sunrises and sunsets from its two beaches. Guests can choose from 46 bungalows and casitas scattered across the palm-tree-laden grounds. I recommend booking an island-tip bungalow with a private pool.

Apart from its beautiful grounds and well-appointed rooms, the Two Seasons offers a host of amenities. Guests enjoy access to a fitness center, aqua sports, and the Narra Spa. There’s also a karaoke room and the Bahura bar for entertainment, and the Sulu Restaurant for relaxed fine dining. With all this on offer in a sustainable way, the Two Seasons Coron is my favorite luxury resort in Coron, and a worthy competitor to El Nido’s private island resorts.

Paolyn Houseboats

Paolyn Houseboats is my choice for the most unique accommodation in Coron. These floating houseboats are set in Laknisan lagoon on Coron Island, and staffed by members of the Indigenous Tagbauna tribe. Coron Island is owned by this tribe, and Paolyn is one of the only tourist accommodations they’ve allowed on their land. This special privilege allows guests at Paolyn to enjoy Coron’s famous sites outside of official tour times, providing a nearly private experience.

The accommodations range from simple double rooms to entire houseboats with space for 40 guests. All rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the turquoise lagoon and expansive decks with direct lagoon access. Guests can enjoy complimentary watersports in the lagoon, and paddle themselves to the iconic Twin Lagoons. Other nearby attractions include Kayangan and Barracuda Lake. For a one-of-a-kind experience with a positive local impact, Paolyn Houseboats is one of the most unique accommodations in Coron.

The Ridge Coron

The Ridge Coron is my favorite mid-range hotel in Coron. This comfortable inn sits atop a hill in town, with free tricycle transfers up and down the slope. Its vantage point affords beautiful sea views from many of its rooms and its rooftop restaurant. Guests can choose from cozy Twin Bed accommodations to Double Rooms with either sea or mountain views. I recommend booking a Double Room for their private terraces.

The Ridge has a restaurant and bar onsite, as well as a cafe. Guests recommend the pizza and daily breakfast selections. For activities, guests can rent bicycles free of charge, and the staff is happy to assist in tour bookings and sightseeing suggestions. If you’re wondering where to stay in Coron for great value, the Ridge Coron is your best bet.

Outpost Hostel Coron

Outpost Hostel Coron is my personal recommendation for the best hostel in Coron. The hostel offers both dormitories and private rooms, all equipped with air-conditioning and fans. This makes it a great choice for both budget travelers and those just interested in meeting new people and enjoying a good vibe.

The key draw to Outpost is its great rooftop deck and infinity pool. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a sunny rest day, and makes for incredible sunsets. The onsite restaurant serves Filipino fusion at affordable prices, while the bar provides plenty of entertainment. Although its a great place to meet other travelers, the bar closes at 11:00 pm every night, making the hostel a great place to rest between Coron adventures. For this reason, Outpost Hostel is one of the best hostels in Coron for backpackers and fun-loving travelers.

Where to Stay in El Nido vs Coron (El Nido Accommodations)

El Nido is one of my favorite places to visit in the Philippines. Unfortunately, many people share similar sentiments, meaning it’s one of the most popular (and expensive) places to travel in the country. Those considering El Nido vs Coron should be ready to book earlier and pay a bit extra for accommodations in El Nido. That said, the region has an incredibly diverse range of resorts, hotels, and hostels. The following are my favorites!

a dog sitting on a deck next to the ocean.
Cauayan Island Resort in El Nido

Pangulasian Island by El Nido Resorts

Pangulasian Island has long been El Nido’s most alluring private island resort. This tempting hideaway is an eco-luxury haven, with only 42 villas spread across a pristine beachfront and jungle hilltop. Guests can choose from beachfront villas, pool villas, canopy villas with treetop views or my favorite, the Kalaw Villas for a truly secluded escape. Each of the suites boasts modern amenities combined with traditional Filipino architecture, creating a best-in-class offering for discerning travelers.

As one of the Philippines’ most exclusive hotels, Pangulasian provides a wealth of amenities. Naturally, the island offers incredible sunrises and sunsets, with its south-facing beach making for incredible panoramas of Bacuit Bay. As for facilities, it boasts a fitness center, multiple pools, island tours, and the Amianan restaurant serving international cuisine. Guests can also indulge in spa treatments, explore the island with water sports, or simply lounge in the comfort of their spacious villas. With its gorgeous natural setting and exquisite accommodations, Pangulasian is one of the best places to stay in El Nido.

Nacpan Beach Glamping

Nacpan Beach Glamping is my choice for the most unique accommodations in El Nido. Located on Nacpan Beach, this glamping spot is about 40 minutes north of El Nido. The secluded beachfront resort offers luxurious and exotic accommodations and gorgeous grounds. Guests love the tall coconut trees and tropical gardens surrounding the glamping domes.

As for amenities, guests have air conditioning units in each tent, an outdoor pool, a restaurant & bar, and a delicious complimentary breakfast. The resort’s Nacpan Beach setting affords guests direct access to one of the best beaches in the region, perfect for sunrises and sunsets without other tourists. Considering its aesthetic design and great hospitality, Nacpan Beach Glamping is my favorite unique accommodation in El Nido.

Sea Cocoon Hotel

Sea Cocoon Hotel is my favorite mid-range hotel in El Nido. I stayed here for the first time in 2015, and since then, the hotel has been renovated and continues to impress guests with its great value and service. The hotel features 44 cozy rooms, with some offering beautiful views of Bacuit Bay or the mountains. Guests can choose from standard twin rooms or family rooms with space to accommodate 4. Each room offers air conditioning, a private bathroom, and a complimentary breakfast.

Amenities at Sea Cocoon include a beautiful rooftop restaurant and an outdoor pool. A highlight is the delicious complimentary breakfast served with sea views. Guests also note the convenient location, warm hospitality, and great value that Sea Cocoon offers. For these reasons, it’s one of the best value places in El Nido.

Conclusion: Coron vs El Nido: Which One is Better?

That’s it for my complete guide comparing Coron vs El Nido. Hopefully, you were able to pick the best island to visit for your upcoming stay. Even better, maybe you’ll decide to visit both with Big Dream Boatman! I’ve also included links to some of my other Palawan articles that might help in your travel planning. As always, happy travels!

3 POPULAR CORON TOURS

  • Coron Island Hopping Trip: The iconic boat trip to amazing Kayangan Lake & Barracuda Lake. Best value and most popular
  • Coron Tour B: Barracuda Lake Snorkel, Banol Beach, Twin Lagoon & Skeleton Wreck. This is my favorite island hopping in Coron and is the snorkeling paradise & active tour.
  • Coron Tour C : Malcapuya Beach, Ditaytayan Sandbar and more. This tour is about beaches, sandbars and chilling out!

WHERE TO STAY IN CORON TOWN

Coron Town is the base for all of your adventures in Coron. In Coron Town you have the bars, restaurants, transport, places to book tours and you are close to Mt. Tapyas and Maquinit Hot Spring. It is also just a $3 shuttle to the airport. Below are my three picks plus one all-inclusive resort (I’ve stayed multiple times) that includes private island hopping.

  • The Funny Lion (Good Atmosphere): The Funny Lion is a boutique resort in Coron that I visited several years ago. Let’s just say that beer from the hot tub with one of the best sunset views in Coron is about as good as it gets. It’s ultra-modern and has a spa, pool, and immaculate rooms. The rooftop bar and dining is an awesome place to be after a long day of island-hopping in Coron.
  • Two Seasons Coron Bayside Hotel (Value): Located by the bay in Coron Town, this upscale hotel features an infinity pool which makes for a picture-perfect sunset view (Possibly the best sunset hotel view in Coron). If you want comfort and luxury at the same time this place is for you. It has its own private dock so you just leave straight to the island-hopping tours from your hotel room!
  • Casa Fidelis Resort All-inclusive (Includes private island hopping): I had the most amazing stay at Casa Fidelis. The villa had a large patio area that looked out over the garden. Stepping stones led you from the room to the dining area, where we had decadent spreads of gourmet food for every meal. Casa

Cavite, Philippines, is a charming province with everything a tourist’s heart desires: nature, fun, history, and good food. Cavite’s allure extends far beyond its name! This captivating province boasts a treasure trove of natural beauty, thrilling activities, rich historical sites, and delectable cuisine. But there’s nothing quite like a private pool to make your stay in one of Cavite’s premier resorts more memorable.

My favorites? I put Villas as Caza del Mar first for their gorgeous amenities and surroundings, and Torres Farm & Resort for its attractive recreation options!

Villas at Caza del Mar

Villas at Caza del Mar is a stunning resort in Puerto Azul’s Palicpican located only 12 kilometers away from Mount Pico De Loro. Enjoy the beautiful garden views from your private balcony or take a cooling dip in the resort’s outdoor pool and chill by its poolside bar, perfect for sipping cocktails under the tropical sun. If you’re hungry, Villas at Caza del Mar pamper you with delectable Filipino cuisine on-site.

Step out into your villa’s deck if you feel like enjoying Cavite’s peace in your own privacy. The private pool at Villas at Caza del Mar is a rectangular-shaped beauty with azure squared tiles at the bottom. I look at the pretty blue of the private pool paired with the cream lounging chairs sitting in the corner and I can only think of all the ways I’d spend my hot summer days here. This is surely one of the best resorts with a private pool in Cavite.

Casa Ysobel

Casa Yscobel is a new villa near Rotunda with 4 spacious bedrooms. There’s a master bedroom with a private bathroom and even a bunker on the ground floor for the little ones. Once hungry, cook up a meal in the resort’s well-equipped kitchen or fire up the grill to give your day a perfect BBQ-themed ending. Plus, the villa allows for 2 pets per stay, with some restrictions.

My personal favorite is the back garden, where it all gets interesting: a gorgeous Bali-style garden and private pool where you can dip your toes in the clear water and cool off any day, any time. This is a rectangular-shaped pool big enough to fit the whole family (and more) with dark blue tiles on the inside and white stones for the deck. There’s a cozy sitting area just next to the pool and several lovely potted plants adorning the area as well. Isn’t it just the ideal resort with a private pool in Cavite for some memorable family time?

La Esquina Private Resort

La Esquina Private Resort is a cute and minimal villa 10 minutes away from Tagaytay with great access to Picnic Grove and Taal Volcano. There are a total of four beautiful bedrooms looking over the pool, each with a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, an adjoining terrace and dining area, and a private bathroom with a bidet, shower, and complimentary toiletries. Feel free to cook your favorite meal in the resort’s convenient kitchen or fire up the grill and get barbecuing.

La Esquina’s outdoor pool is in the backyard, a big square-shaped and jetted pool with a separate area that seems to be a small jacuzzi within the pool. The resort’s private pool has dotted white-and-blue tilings and modern grey stones around the deck. I personally love that sky blue and white are the primary colors used in the backyard area. They just give the space an even more peaceful aura! This resort with a private pool in Cavite is a great choice for those seeking some private time.

Staycation @ Sandari Batulao

Are you traveling to Cavite looking for a break from the city and its polluted atmosphere? Then I recommend the Staycation at Sandari Batulao, a 3-story modern home nestled in the serene mountains of Nasugbu. A cool year-round weather, breathtaking mountain views, and a private pool make this small but impressive spot one of the best resorts with a private pool in Cavite. The place has an open-concept layout and a modern design bathed in sunlight. When hungry, you can whip up delicious meals in its fully-equipped kitchen or use the private patio’s barbecue facilities for al fresco dining under the stars. Plus, guests can also access Club Ananda’s facilities, like its impressive infinity pool.

The place has one L-shaped indoor private plunge pool, jetted and lit up with LED lights to look even cuter.  There are floor-to-ceiling windows surrounding the pool to let guests enjoy the beautiful outdoor views while relaxing in the resort’s private pool. Classis blue tiles coat the pool’s inside while high-gloss silver stones adorn the deck, complementing the place’s modern look. There are also two outdoor pools you can use for an additional charge, each relaxing and enjoyable in its own right.

Torres Farm & Resort

Torres Farm & Resort takes a fun international twist on things and presents a cute village-style resort with 33 miniature replicas of iconic landmarks from various countries. From luxurious suites to exquisite boutique villas with themes of ancient Greece or Turkey, you’ll be right where you want to be. There are also several event venues with, you guessed it, unique themes like Santorini Events Place, Singapore Events Place, Korean Garden Events Place, and Canadian Igloo Events Place. Cool off at one of their five public pools, each with a unique country theme, or that one private pool dedicated to Japan!

The Japanese-themed private pool is next to the gorgeous traditional-style Japanese Villa. Like other parts of this resort, the pool is inspired by traditional architecture rules that used to include deep and refreshing pools in yards to cool off in summer. The pool has an abstract outline with rounded corners and runs under the symbolic bridge. It’s big enough to swim laps and has clear, color-only style tiles in azure. My favorite part about this resort with a private pool in Cavite is this spot. It’s just so majestic and beautiful that I can’t help but wonder how it’d look next to real cherry blossoms!

The Park Silang

The Park Silang is perhaps one of the select few high-class resorts in Philipinnes with glamping and premium room options. Located near St. Benedict Parish Church, this resort places you far from annoying city noises just an hour south of Manila surrounded by natural beauty. There’s a spa center, an on-site restaurant, four gorgeous event venues, and three glamping options among room types including The Boutique, The Loft, and The Safari Couple. But in my opinion, the hotel’s real gem is inside one of its premium suites.

Ideal for groups, the spacious Premium Suite features a private plunge pool, perfect for cooling off after a day of Philipinian adventure. The suite can comfortably accommodate 4 adults and 2 children with a maximum of 2 additional guests. Each plunge pool’s deck is adorned with grey-toned stones shielded in an area with bamboo hedges from three sides. The Park Silang is, without a doubt, one of the best resorts with a private pool in Cavite.

MaClare Resort

If you’re looking for a local resort with comfortable suites and private pools, consider booking one of MaClare Resort’s rooms located in Imus, Cavite. You won’t be bored with the resort’s outdoor swimming pool, billiards, table tennis, and darts for guests. And don’t forget that the resort is just 21 kilometers away from the exciting attractions of SM By the Bay Amusement Park. There’s an on-site restaurant for those who wish to taste the authentic local cuisine too!

Not all rooms in MaClare Resort have private pools, but those that do have prepared a gorgeous backyard/patio for everything the guests might need. Attached to the Junior Suite is a patio with a cute, rectangular private plunge pool, perfect for a refreshing dip to cool off after a day of exploring. There’s a small backyard attached to the Two-Bedroom Suite as well, but this one’s more colorful and family-friendly core. While Junior Suite’s private pool is lengthier (which makes it perfect for laps), the latter seems to have a deeper pool smaller in size. Both have beautiful sky-blue tilings and several steps that help lead you down. An ideal resort with a pool in Cavite for your family vacation, don`t you think?

Bungad Biluso

Nestled in Silang, Cavite, just before the bustling Tagaytay City, is a private resort that’s perfect for those seeking a modest but comfortable stay inside nature’s embrace. Bungad Biluso (meaning “starting point” in Tagalog) is the first landmark you encounter on the way to Barangay Biluso and the perfect destination for a relaxing, karaoke-free escape. Here, you can exchange your vows under the open sky, have fun with loved ones by the pool, or sway in a hammock gazing at the star-studded night sky.

I love the resort’s focus on affordable but tranquil resting quarters and amenities, especially their two cute pools called Batis and Balustre. Batis is an outdoor pool in a grand open space with a jacuzzi, a kids’ pool, a waterfall slide, and a 360-degree view of the gorgeous surrounding greenery. There’s a grill area and two showers and bathrooms in the Batis Pool area as well. Balustre Pool is smaller than Batis but is deeper (with the deepest part reaching 5 feet and 5 inches) and has a bubbling kiddie pool, a waterfall, and a slide just like its sibling. With so much to offer, this resort with a private pool in Cavite guarantees a blast for all.

Riverfront Garden Resort

If you’re looking for a mindful trip away from the city and busy areas, Riverfront Garden Resort is the answer. This beautiful resort is positioned 3 hours from Manila, right in the middle of nature with a rejuvenating outdoor pool, glamping options (air-conditioned or fan-cooled tents), and two suites with private pools. You’ll have a chance to capture amazing memories with jaw-dropping backdrops or host a business event in Riverfront Garden Resort’s venue. The hotel’s kitchen also serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and desserts.

Riverfront Garden Resort recently introduced their New Superior and Twin Rooms with the ultimate indulgence – a private mini swimming pool and pool deck overlooking the stunning Maragondon River. The pools are rather small (they’re called mini pools for a reason) to swim laps, but they’re a delightful place to relax and enjoy nature from atop a chaise chair on the deck. This place is easily one of the finest resorts with a private pool in Cavite.

Starview Hotel

Located in Silang, only a stone’s throw away from The Riviera Golf Club and the Sky Ranch, is the one and only Starview Hotel. Starview Hotel might not be the flashiest joint in Cavite, but it’s the perfect spot for some holiday fun without burning a hole in your wallet. There’s an on-site restaurant serving delicious authentic dishes to guests who feel hungry after spending time in the hotel’s spa or Korean Jjimjilbang. You can also cool off under the Philippine sun in the resort’s outdoor pool or opt for a more private and romantic experience at one of Starview’s pool villas.

Starview Hotel’s pool villas are amazing for those seeking more privacy with their travel buddies or just some alone time chilling by the pool without having to worry about too many people around. Different units have differently shaped pools, with one being rectangular and the other resembling a pumpkin. The pool decks are adorned with square-dotted tilings in brown and grey with chairs available in the backyard area to lounge by the pool or simply bask in the scorching sun. Now that`s what I call a perfect vacation in a perfect resort with a private pool in Cavite.

Southwinds Resort is a relatively new establishment in Pansol, sitting across the Sun City Resort. Opened in 2010, it offers a modern escape with stunning views of the legendary Mount Makiling, all while remaining close to city comforts. The resort caters to all types of travelers, with rooms ranging from cozy couple retreats to spacious havens perfect for larger groups.
